Wuling to produce EV batteries in Indonesia by end of 2024

Team Webmaster :   Wuling Motors will produce electric Vehicle (EV) batteries in Indonesia by the end of 2024 to support the development of the EV ecosystem.

“Wuling will continue its steps to produce batteries in Indonesia by the end of 2024. This step is a commitment in participating in building the EV ecosystem and adding comfort and tranquility to every Wuling EV owner,” said Wuling Motors Marketing Operations Director Liu Yan as quoted in a company press release in Jakarta, Saturday.

The electric vehicle battery that will be produced in Indonesia is called MAGIC Battery. The MAGIC word in the battery name stands for Multifunction Unitized Structure Technology, Advanced Cell Safety, Greater Performance, Intelligent Management, and Combustion Free.

Multifunction Unitized Structure Technology (MUST) on the battery is inspired by the design of aircraft wings.

MAGIC Battery integrates the structure, side panel and cooling layer into one functional part, forming a very light and high-strength battery structure.

Liu Yan said that the integrated structure increases battery life by up to 60 percent with the same amount of material weight.

MAGIC Battery has advanced battery cells called Advanced Cell Safety because the improved structure inside the battery cell includes the use of a ceramic coating as a low heat conductor that can minimize the possibility of short circuits, leaks, evaporation, and overheating.

The battery cells used based on the test results can still function normally in the event of a collision and do not burn or explode.

According to the company, the use of MUST and Advanced Cell Safety improves the performance and safety of the MAGIC Battery.

The company calls its battery products more efficient, lighter, durable, good performance, and safe.

According to Liu Yan, MAGIC Battery combines two smart sources to monitor battery conditions, namely a High Precision Battery Management System that can monitor in real time and a Cloud-based AI device that can perform 240 security checks and more than 80 warnings if something goes wrong.

According to him, this intelligent management ensures that the battery can be monitored with high accuracy throughout its life cycle, thus providing complete security for the user.

The proof, he said, is that the Wuling batteries in the more than two million electric cars that have been sold globally do not suddenly explode or catch fire on their own.
