Team Webmaster : BYD dominated vehicle sales in China in August 2024, with 12 best-selling vehicle model entries in the top 20.
Yiche Data reported on Sunday (15/9), recently compiled a list of Top 40 for the best-selling domestic cars.
This list is not only for electric cars, but for all the best-selling vehicle models in China, whether electric, hybrid, or internal combustion (ICE) cars.
At first glance, this list looks like it is only for electric car sales because sales are predominantly environmentally friendly cars. This is due to the penetration rate of environmentally friendly cars in China in August, which reached 53.9 percent.

BYD in the chart took the top six places, and in the top 20, no less than 12 BYD models.
The only other brands to make it into the top 10 besides BYD were two entries from Wuling with the seventh place being occupied by the Mini EV and the ninth place being occupied by Bingo.
Meanwhile, Li Auto made it to eighth place with the L6.
While on the full Top 40 list, what is noticeable is that a number of manufacturers are struggling to find models that sell well, including many traditional heavy hitters.
The only large state-owned enterprises included in this list are Changan, GAC (Aion), and FAW (Hongqi).
In addition, one of the traditionally more dynamic private companies, Great Wall, did not have a single entry until the 36th place, which was held by Havel Big Dog.
In particular, Geely, although not in the same good position as BYD, is nevertheless much better than Great Wall.
Xiaomi managed to take 21st place with the SU7. The Huawei-backed Aito secured 14th place for the M9 and 28th for the M7.
